Out of all the new TV shows out this season there is one show that stand above the rest… FRINGE!! Fringe is a science fiction television series co-created by J. J. Abrams, Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci. The first episode of Fringe aired on 9/9/08 on FOX. Initially I wasn’t too interested but my older brother told me that it was an interesting show so I decided to give it a chance. His exact words were, “It’s kind of like Lost and X-Files mixed together”. True to his claim I found that the show was strikingly similar to both shows (the good parts not the stupid later seasons).

The show evolves around an FBI agent named Olivia Dunham, a scientist Walter Bishop, and his genius son Peter, as they investigate crimes pertaining to fringe science. Fringe science is scientific inquiry in an established field of study which departs significantly from mainstream or orthodox theories. Fringe concepts are considered highly speculative or weakly confirmed by mainstream scientists. This ranges from telepathy, reanimation, mind control, etc.

“The Pattern” is described as a series of experiments that someone is conducting around the world. Olivia, Peter, and Walter are in charge of investigating these strange events to determine their source. Connected to “the pattern” is a company called Massive Dynamic, which is a leading global research company that holds the patents for a number of new and important technologies. The stories for each episode are amazing and this is only amplified by a great cast.

Olivia Dunham is played by Anna Torv. Anna isn’t really famous BUT I knew I recognized her from a video game I played recently. Anna played the voice of Nariko in the PS3 video game Heavenly Sword. Her face was also used for the character model. I can sort of see the resemblance…

Peter Bishop is played by Pacey! Ok, just kidding, but honestly the first thing that comes to mind is Dawson’s Creek. All joking aside Joshua Jackson plays his role superbly and is very convincing. In the show he is a genius college drop-out with gambling debts. His presence is often necessary to keep his father in check.

Dr. Walter Bishop is played by John Noble. Mr. Noble’s acting is absolutely phenomenal and I believe he is the sole reason why FRINGE is so awesome. If you find Mr. Noble’s face to be familiar, he played a part in the Lord of the Rings movies… he was Denethor (don’t ask me how I know this stuff).

Anyways the show is awesome and we highly recommend it!
