Marvel vs. Capcom 2 For XBLA/PSN
It seems that Capcom is making all the right moves these days. They recently announced that Marvel vs. Capcom 2 will be hitting Xbox LIVE Arcade and PlayStation Network this summer. They will be charging $14.99 for this classic. I still remember playing this game in Flushing, Queens with my good friend Paul. I hope they rework some balancing issues cause I do remember seeing a lot of infinite combos and bullshit.
“It’s essentially the same game that we all know and love from the arcade/DreamCast/PS2/Xbox days, but more affordable and delivered via the Internet. While it won’t undergo a Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix-style makeover, it does include a few tweaks, including what Capcom terms an “optional advanced visual filter” and online modes like Ranked Matches and Player “Quarter” Matches. We played a few sessions, and it’s just as fast, furious, and frenetic as we remembered. It looks and controls fine (we didn’t monkey around with the options, but we know that there are settings for 4:3 versus 16:9; what we played looked slightly zoomed-in and cropped to make it widescreen without making the characters look distorted [CORRECTION: According to Christian Svensson's Capcom Unity blog, this is not a zoom-and-crop, but some sort of space-age technosorcery where gameplay is 4:3, but the view area is widescreen]), and it’s still ludicrously fun to mash on the buttons and use ridiculous tagteams and assists like Servbot, Dr. Doom, and Strider together.”
Haha, they did a terrible job keeping this a secret. I’m pretty excited about not having to unlock all the characters though, the thought of having my 360 on all night to get points doesn’t sit too well with my warranty. Here’s hoping the “optional filter” isn’t just some smeary 2xsai or anything.
I will definitely get this. Only thing – it’s annoying they future Wolverine as the main Marvel character. Gah, of course, though.
