Remember when Grand Theft Auto 3 first came out? It seemed as though Rockstar offered gamers unlimited freedom to do whatever they wanted. These days, we have open-world, sandbox games that are much more complex, but Grand Theft Auto 3 was truly ahead of its time.

Rockstar recently announced that it’s porting the game over to iOS and Android phones and tablets in celebration of its 10 year anniversary. Unfortunately, the game only supports specific phones at this time.

  • Apple iOS Devices: iPad 2, iPhone 4S.
  • Android Phones: Droid X2, HTC Evo 2, LG Optimus 2X, Motorola Atrix, Samsung Galaxy S2.
  • Android Tablets: Acer Iconia, Asus Eee Pad, Motorola Xoom, Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1.

As an HTC EVO Shift, I’m pretty disappointed that I won’t be able to carjack and shoot-up the residents of Liberty City when the game releases. However, for those lucky enough to have one of the devices above, it’ll be interesting to see how the controls transfer over.
