Attack of Titan, also known as “Shingeki no Kyojin” in Japanese, is 1 out of 2 animes that I am currently watching this 2013 Anime season. If you sit through the 1st episode you will understand why this anime has become very popular recently. The 1st episode starts off a bit slow but has a great unnerving ending that will leave you wanting more. I highly recommend it, but warn you it is not for the weak of heart. The story follows a young child, Eren and his friends Mikasa and Armin on their conquest to rid the world of the evil Titans. I have also been reading the manga (which is a lot further than the anime) and I can guarantee you the show will not slow down anytime soon. The characters are great and the terror you feel while watch is fresh as the Titans are such a mystery.

The easiest way to get the manga is through “MangaStorm” from iOS, or just google “Shingeki no Kyojin manga”.

The anime is a little tricker to get, you can either watch them on crunchyroll.com, or torrent them.

Did you guys watch the 1st episode? What did you think?

Made by Codi Wolfgong, “Control Freak Video Game Art” features paintings for any kind of video game lover. These are completely original, hand painted controller paintings. Perfect for any game room or man cave.

Colors can be changed upon request, and any controller you wish can be made!

Sizes to pick from are 16″ by 20″ or 18″ by 24″. Each painting is custom made per order. Please allow 7-10 days for her to complete your order depending on quantity ordered. Each painting is slightly different as she uses real paint splatters: no 2 paintings are exactly alike!

wrixel: Dustforce was such a great game! Will there be a Dustforce 2? What were some things you learned after releasing DustForce?

Hitbox team: Its good to be working on a new project after spending so long on Dustforce, we were all pretty burnt out by the end of it. There are too many great ideas out there to be working on a sequel! Beta testing was one of the major things missing from Dustforce, unfortunately we just didn’t have the time or budget to do this. we are planning on a closed beta for Spire when the time is right.

wrixel: If you could go back in time and change anything about Dustforce what would it be?

Hitbox team: Probably make the game a little more accessible. We ended up releasing an update that help new players out a lot. It’s a shame we didn’t ship with these fixes already in place; something beta testing would have probably picked up.

wrixel o you guys have any in-house records in Dustforce?

Hitbox team: When Dustforce was still in development we fought over the high score for Downhill. Everytime we thought we had the best time possible, someone would beat it. Terence ended up with a score just over 15 second. Currently the top score is 13.232… The public ended up destroying any highscores we put on the board.

wrixel: Spire looks amazing! Anything you can tell us about the game? When can we expect the game to be released? What inspired this new direction?

Hitbox team:We love the emergent narratives that come out of procedurally generated games with deep mechanics like Brogue and Nethack. We also love the feeling of navigating a space with mastery and finesse like Quake and Dustforce. Spire is our attempt to bring these two feelings into one game. For the first year we focused on asset pipelines and core systems. Most of the ground work is done, so we can start focusing on gameplay soon. It’s hard to say, but we probably still have another 2 years before Spire is ready to release to the world.

wrixel: What games are you guys currently playing?

Hitbox team:Woodley and I are playing a lot of Dota2 at the moment, probably a little too much… The complexity that arises from team compositions is fascinating.

wrixel: How did the Team come together?

Hitbox team:Just a group of friends that met in highschool, college, and on the road.

wrixel: Who would win Mario or Luigi?

Hitbox team:Even though I mained Mario for a long time, I’m not that familiar with the matchup. Luigi has a crazy wavedash and good recovery, while Mario’s forward smash and combo game is strong. Mario can also cape Luigi’s recovery, but wouldn’t have much throw game against him. Luigi’s aerials, dsmash and throw game are great against just about anyone, and since Mario isn’t too floaty the Weegee can probably link a lot of stuff into F-air… My heart says Mario, but I’m going to go with Luigi on this one. (Source – the greatest game ever made, Super Smash Bros. Melee)

wrixel: If the Zombie Apocalypse happened what would be your weapons of choice?

Hitbox team:Ambient music and a hammock.

wrixel: Any closing remarks for our readers?

Hitbox team:You can keep up with our progress at hitboxteam.com! We hope you enjoy Dustforce and we can’t wait to bring you Spire.

Thanks so much for taking the time to answer our questions HitBox! please show them some love and support SPIRE when it is released!

This review is a bit late and I even considered not writing it, but I feel like I should at least let you know how awesome StarCraft 2: Heart of the Swarm is. I love StarCraft 2 and its really hard for me to find any flaws with it. StarCraft 2 and I have had a long term gaming relationship for a quite a number of years now. I grew up playing StarCraft and it was one of my my 1st RTS experiences along with the Warcraft series. I’m sure you don’t know what “RTS” means so I’ll explain: ”RTS” stands for “Real Time Strategy”. Think of it like, playing Chess except you can move as fast as you want and whenever you want. I immediately fell in love with the genre because I thought it was so cool to control little minions on the screen.

StarCraft 2: Heart of the Swarm Review

“I am the Swarm. Armies will be shattered. Worlds will burn. Now at last, on this world, vengeance shall be mine. For I am the Queen of Blades.”

-Queen of Blades

1 Woman Zerg Army

I’m always talking about Sarah Kerrigan and how she is so bad-ass in the original StarCraft right? Well shes back in “Heart of the Swarm” and she’s even more bad-ass In this latest version of StarCraft 2 you have opportunity to level up Kerrigan and give her a bunch of abilities. In previous games you rarely controlled Kerrigan except on a few missions. It was hard to see why she was so powerful other than reading stories or watching the cinematics. Now that you can control her and her abilities you can experience her true power! It also allows you to experiment with numerous game-play styles. You can give her a lighting ability that lets you hit several targets at once, or you can get a “crushing grip” spell, that lets you psionically attack enemies. You have several options and they are all very fun to play around with.

Epic Battles, Epic Gameplay, Epic Graphics

One of the best things about StarCraft 2:HotS is that you can witness amazing sci-fi battles. You can see a bunch of little marines on your screen battle a huge Ultralisk or you can witness a bunch of starships duke it out in the sky. The control you have over your units in StarCraft is great, and the game never feels slow or unresponsive. The game will react to how quickly you can issue commands so you can always get better. The graphics in HOTS are much better than the original SC2, and its due to the extra level of detail you can see in every aspect of the game. Everything in the game has so much detail and polish, its amazing what the team at Blizzard has accomplished.

Kerrigan leads her Zerg army into battle.

How do you make good Music/Sound better?

One noticeable improvement that I’ve noticed with this expansion pack is the music. Here is an example of the Zerg Music. Its creepy and dramatic, it really fits the mood of the Zerg.

I always wonder how they go about making such music at the studio…. boggles my mind.

The fight never ends

Whats great about StarCraft 2 is the Multi-Player experience. Once you have beaten the “story” part of the game, you can go online and battle other people. Its like playing chess on steroids. It’s always intense and there is never a dull moment. There are so many things to do in the multi-player aspect of the game. You can play custom games or have huge 4 vs 4 battle. You can get ranked and level up your multi-player profile. Its all really fun and interactive. Heart of the Swarm is a great game and I highly recommend picking it up. If you are not familiar with the RTS genre I would recommend staying away from the MULTI-player aspect of the game. Its brutal on battle.net and you will definitely get your feelings hurt.

For those curious action platform gamers out there, the new DMC:Devil May Cry is a must play. This latest release in the Devil May Cry franchise is a complete spin-off from the original Devil May Cry series you may be familiar with. Everything from where the setting of the game takes place, to the personality of main character, has received an overhaul, and I must say, it’s definitely a smart move on Ninja Theory / Capcom’s part. Let’s get into why.

While the storyline is a little simple, and predictable by the end of the game, the new Dante is crass, arrogant, and slick, which I thought worked perfectly for keeping me engaged during the cutscenes. Adding on that, the art style and music makes the game incredibly immersive, making it worth the purchase, alone. Assuming you own a decent PC rig, and your video card can handle it, do not even hesitate to consider buying the PC release of this game as it is absolute eye candy, as it presents the game at 60 fps (versus its console siblings which only catch the game at give or take 35). The music is done by Noisia and Combichrist, providing a killer mix heavy rock and electronic sounds. This gave the game a very dark, industrial flavor to DMC that helps to modernize the setting, and the franchise itself, even more (this is a good thing). In fact, I am listening to one of the songs linked below while writing this review for you guys.

Have a listen:

As for the gameplay, the controls and combos are very forgiving. If you’ve played any of the original Devil May Cry games, or Bayonetta, this game will make you feel like a combo god. Let’s say you haven’t touched any of those games listed above… then this game will make you feel like a combo god. As you progress, things never get old. Every single new skill, gun, and melee weapon you earn is never wasted; only adding another set of combos and moves that will make your flurry of hits on these demons even deadlier, and more visually appealing.

Summed up, my favorite parts of the game:

The music and the graphics are sick

Action and the gameplay make you feel like you own (What you look for in games)

New Dante is one slick mo-fo

Stuff that was “…meh”:

Story was predictable

Getting all the secrets (skins, minor upgrades) can be frustrating and tedious (What you would expect from a Japanese game)

There’s even a mode where you die from one hit, perfect for those who like to master Bayonetta-style dodging, and looking for a challenge

If you are looking for a simple, satifying action packed game, and you don’t care much about deep storyline go and get DMC: Devil May Cry.

Visuals and Music: 4.5 out of 5
Story: 2 out of 5
Gameplay: 4 out of 5

Buy? Yes (PC if your rig can handle it)

Thanks for reading, folks.

1) Is it possible to spot a gamer if you saw one?
2) Why did Sony not have any female presenters at the PS4 press conference.

“Destiny” looks amazing! When I 1st read that details about Bungie’s secret game got leaked I was a bit skeptical but as soon as I saw the concept art, I was immediate sold. After I read more about the story and what Bungie was trying to achieve I knew we had a winner. I’m not sure what it is but I can tell immediately if a game will do well or not. I get all excited when a game tries to do something fresh and exciting and you can tell it will be successful. For example I had this same feeling when I saw “Left 4 Dead” and it turned out to be one of the best horror-fps games ever created.

http://wrixel.com/2008/01/11/left-4-dead/

I love the sci-fi look of the characters. Its like Halo married World of Craft and “Destiny” was born.

So what is “Destiny” about? Rather than mess it up I’ll show you what Bungie released to the public.

This is a BOLD claim to make but I believe Bungie can do it. Hell, they made HALO which is a HUGE franchise.

Here are more details about the story:

Finally here is a video documentary about the game that drove me crazy!!

I can’t wait til this games comes out!! What do you guys think??
