For the longest time I always wanted another “Zone of the Enders” Game. I played the first of the series back in 2001 and I was blown away by the graphics (PS2 was the shit at the time). The game was AMESOME. ZOE appealed to me on so many levels. It had a weird Japanese soundtrack (unforgettable, not cause it was good, cause it was weird!) and it had an anime style that I never really saw before in PS2 game. The sound effects were pretty cool and I loved the art direction. I don’t quite remember the story (its been almost 8 years) but I do remember it being ridiculously weird. I will never forget my memories of flying around in Jehuty and wrecking havoc on other mechs. This game was the first time I gave Hideo Kojima (Metal Gear Solid Producer) the credit he deserved. He gained my silent approval and a big thumbs up.

Remember any of this?

Anyways in 2003, they released the sequel to the original ZOE. Just like the first game, the sequel evolved the mecha combat and improved upon the controls and gameplay. The 2nd game had more RPG elements, which I really liked. A lot of people didn’t like it because it went full blast on the Anime elements but overall I thought it was a solid game.

Anyway, in a recent issue of Famitsu, Metal Gear Solid producer, Hideo Kojima hinted of a new Zone of the Enders.

Here are his exact words:

“ZOE is a title that has an extremely large fanbase requesting a sequel. That holds especially true for The 2nd Runner, the sequel. That game was praised all over the world, and we still get a lot of intensely devoted adulation for that game. After Metal Gear Solid, it’s the Kojima Production title that has the largest and most dedicated fanbase. We’re always fantasizing about how we’d make an advanced new version of ZOE: The 2nd Runner with all the cutting-edge tech we have now if we ever had the opportunity. But there is a mountain of things that have to take priority over that, and we just haven’t been able to make it a reality yet. I’m positive in my heart, though, that I’ll be able to bring a sequel to all the fans someday.”

SEE! He is positive in his heart! Although I would like to see a new ZOE game the reality is that we probably wont see a new ZOE game for a really long time. One can always dream…I’m sure the game would look something like this:

Am I the only one who wants to see a sequel? Thoughts? comments?

Check out the photo sections for some cool ZOE pictures.

“One of the most beloved games of the PlayStation 2 may be on its way to the big screen, reports Variety. Shadow of the Colossus has been picked up by Sony Pictures with Kevin Misher producing. His name is credited for The Scorpion King, The Interpreter, and the upcoming Dune.

Now for the (potentially) bad news. The script is being written by Justin Marks, who you may remember wrote Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li. That movie was an unfortunate dud, but we can hope that it was just a fluke. Marks has a big task ahead of him, making a feature-length movie out of a game with minimal dialogue and very few speaking characters. The report claims that minor characters from the game may take a larger role. And of course, Variety reminds us that the path from studio to screen is a long one, and anything can happen in-between. We’ll keep an eye out for this one and hope for the best.”
